ZAHÁJILI JSME VĚDECKOU SPOLUPRÁCI S PARTNERY Z POLSKA
Members of the Participatory Planning and Design team of CTU UCEEB will run two basic research projects with Polish partners. The collaboration will be launched thanks to their successful application to the international call OPUS 22 LAP announced by the Polish National Centre for Science (NCN), the domestic part of which is managed by the Grant Agency of the Czech Republic (GACR) within the CEUS Initiative.
Work on both projects will begin in early 2023. For the CTU UCEEB Participatory Planning and Design team, they represent opportunities for a stronger thematic focus and enhanced expertise in its areas of interest.
The first one concerns organisational learning in urban organisations while implementing innovation projects. Its leader is dr hab. inż. Łukasz Damurski Ph.D. from the Faculty of Architecture of the Technical University of Wrocław, who has been working on urban development issues for a long time in his rich scientific career. On the part of the CTU UCEEB, the scientific basis for this project was created mainly thanks to the cooperation of team member Tomáš Vácha with the University of Manchester and the world-class expert there, Prof. James Evans Ph.D., who will take on the role of scientific leader of the Czech part of the research team.
During the three-year research, for which the subsidy amounts to more than CZK 6.3 million, a monograph will be published by an English-language publishing house. In addition, three articles will be published, and three presentations will be made at international conferences. For the non-academic public, the project will organise seminars for municipal politicians and officials from selected municipalities and will also publish educational materials on social media. The ICT Operator of the capital city of Prague and the Municipality of Wrocław have committed to collaborate on the project.
The second project is based on a newly established (online) cooperation with the independent Institute for Structural Research (IBS) in Warsaw, which focuses on economic analysis and impact assessment of public policies in various areas. During the three-year project led by mgr Jan Frankowski, the Polish-Czech team will focus on the energy transformation of post-socialist housing cooperatives. Within the framework of a large-scale investigation, the Polish part of the team will focus on the application of mainly quantitative methods, while the Czech part of the team (headed by Mgr. Tomas Vácha) will mainly apply qualitative methods.
The results of the project, supported by almost CZK 10.5 million, will be three articles (in the field of economics, sociology, and geography), a multi-agent model and four presentations at international conferences. For the non-expert public, the project will produce a policy paper and two newspaper articles summarizing the results of the project and resulting practical recommendations. In addition, a database of cooperatives will be made freely available, and the results of the project will be disseminated on social media.
